Project Description

DSI purchased their building at 455 N Milledge Avenue in 2011 to serve as their home office. The house was built in 1921 and heavily modified over the years. After occupying the house for a few years, DSI decided to uncover the layers of renovations and bring back the original look of the house. We discovered a room in the front was actually a porch that had been closed in, as well as covered up fireplaces and pocket doors concealed in walls.

During the 5 month renovation, we worked with an interior designer to plan furniture layout, company logos and signs, and historic paint colors. Due to our efforts, we won the Best Historic Restoration award in June of 2018 given by the Athens Historical Society. Ours was the only award presented in that category for the year. Many long-time Athenians have since contacted us to tell us how they remembered the way the house used to look and how excited they were to see it brought back to its old grandeur.
