Project Description

DSI has completed several projects on Sapelo Island, located off the coast in the extreme southern part of the State of Georgia. The University of Georgia owns the island and uses it as the center for the Marine Institute. These projects included the renovation of the main laboratory, re-roofing one of the buildings, a seawater filtering facility, and miscellaneous upgrades to various buildings on the island. Extensive pre-planning must be performed prior to the start of construction as the primary method of transporting materials is a barge with limited availability.
