The design team and construction manager transformed this 1960s era office wing into a vibrant, multi-purpose meeting and assembly destination embracing the original character of this Mid-Century Modern building. Repurposing this historic campus building to accommodate a 21st Century Conference Center Program required careful attention to existing conditions and detail by the entire team.

The design team and contractor successfully completed the renovation of the 4thfloor of the Journalism Building on our University’s Athens Campus in September 2010, on time and within budget. The design team worked with our office to provide an innovative and compatible contemporary design for this unique building. Incorporation of daylight into the otherwise windowless 4th and 5th floors was a project requirement. Their approach brought shared light into more than 50% of the spaces. The project was the most successful of the projects I have managed.

The achievement for DSI is that the projects are not another job but an opportunity to create a well-functioning, enhanced and beautiful outcome. Therefore, the projects are designated as accomplishments that maximize the Owners requests and budgets for the best outcome.

The Superintendent, Foreman, and construction crews were a pleasure to work with. They were especially considerate of our staff and guests while completing a fairly invasive renovation, of our occupied facility. DSI demonstrated excellent communication skills, innovative design solutions, and followed through to the last detail.

DSI has been superb to work with. From Mark, the foreman, to John the President, and to everyone supporting these guys: the work was on time, on budget and very well done. We would highly recommend DSI to anyone who is shopping construction in Athens, Georgia, and the surrounding areas. Paired with Lori Bork Newcomer of Bork design, we had an incredible and rewarding renovation experience. This is often hard to say for a construction project of any size, but especially given the scope of this sensitive project and the fact that we live and work in Charleston SC and were relying on this team’s excellent judgment for many of the day to day detailed decisions. I am very thankful to have found these guys.

The Facilities Management Division, Construction Department is very pleased with the work DSI Design & Construction completed on the Park Hall, Replace Two Pipe Systems Project. DSI completed all work on time and within the budget. The work crew from DSI was professional and made sure all UGA/FMD policies were adhered to. All work completed was done as specified. Overall, we were satisfied with DSI’s job performance and we look forward to working with DSI again.
