Park Hall HVAC
Athens, Georgia
Athens, Georgia
This project involved a complete replacement of Mechanical and Lighting systems in the historical Park Hall building, which is three stories in height with attic space. The existing 2-pipe HVAC system was converted to a new 4-pipe system. Lighting and controls were also completely upgraded.
Two of the biggest challenges on this project were creating accesses for new mechanical equipment and providing pathways for this equipment and the related ductwork. Substantial structural steel and roof truss modifications were required to allow for new mechanical equipment, duct, and piping. Walkways were constructed in the attic to accommodate maintenance and access.
Another challenge of the project was building a schedule that accommodated both student and staff needs. The work was conducted on an accelerated schedule involving atypical shift times and weekend work. DSI was able to perform the project within these requirements and completed over $2 million in construction in 10 weeks.
