Project Description

The Georgia Center transformation included a complex and fast-tracked renovation. The Ballroom is host to dinners, conferences, proms and more, so completing this transformation quickly was of the utmost importance. Because of the Ballrooms location in the Georgia Center, it was also important that DSI maintain the integrity of the existing building systems while also protecting the adjacent occupied spaces.

The renovation included complete removal of existing finishes within the Center.  This included walls, chandeliers, wall coverings, ceilings, and operable partitions. A portion of the removed walls was replaced with window walls to brighten the space.  New and sleeker light fixtures were installed. Two complex featured walls were also installed.

One, an intricate millwork wall and the other, a decorative wall panel feature wall that was coated with 10 coats of automotive paint. Not only were the finishes upgraded, DSI completely rehabilitated the mechanical, electrical, fire protection and audiovisual systems. Through detailed coordination with the design team, DSI was able to locate and install new equipment, conduit, and duct, around the Ballrooms existing structural configuration while maintaining and maximizing the intent of the design and the end user’s expectations. Thus, many areas of the Georgia Center have been transformed into a brighter and more inviting space.
