The objective was to introduce natural light into the 4th and 5th floors. Solid masonry bays in this 1960s building were demolished on the north façade and replaced with a new curtainwall system within the arched openings.
This work impacted multiple floors consisting of classrooms and offices. DSI implemented a strategy utilizing Spring and Winter breaks in the academic schedule, temporary wall systems, and orchestrated workflow to replace 5,000 SF of brick façade without disturbing the building’s operations. Students and occupants were allowed to continue day to day functions while the exterior walls were being demolished and replaced.
Another component of the project was a complete renovation of the 4th floor consisting of two office suites, various audio/visual production rooms, classrooms, a shared conference room, computer lab, student workstations, and a 70 seat tiered classroom. In addition, the project included HVAC system upgrade and restroom renovations.
